A remake that chose to preserve: the map, the encounters and the pace are those of Diamond and Pearl, with miniature-style characters and battles in 3D. The Grand Underground expands the old tunnel network with hideaways where Pokémon roam in plain sight.

Faithfulness has a price: Platinum's improvements were left out. In return, the League was strengthened, and the rematches against the Elite Four use competitive-level teams.
